East Boro’s Home from Home service provides full and half day respite for older people in the comfort of a Host’s home.
Hosts welcome up to four customers into their homes where they spend the day taking part in person-centred activities and enjoy a home cooked two-course lunch.
The service offers the opportunity for people to enjoy a day out meeting new people and taking part in stimulating activities. The activities that take place during the day are tailored to the people attending and can include: chatting; listening to music; looking at photographs; dog walking; art; singing; dancing and many more.
East Boro strive to match customers with other individuals who have similar backgrounds or interests so that there is common ground to build on during respite sessions.
What makes the Home from Home service so unique is the fact it takes place in the Host’s own home which provides a small, welcome setting as an alternative to larger day centres.
Hosts can support people with dementia, memory problems, Parkinson’s as well as customers with general respite needs. Up to four people can attend a Host’s home for respite at any time and all Hosts are fully trained in supporting people with Dementia, are police checked, insured and their homes safety assessed.
Customers are matched to a Host nearby so their journey is as short as possible with most dropped off by their carers or voluntary transport with ease.
Home from Home Costs:
- Full Day (9am-3pm) - £39
- Half Day (9am-1pm or 12pm-3pm) - £22.50
Direct Payments can be used to pay for this service.
